SPG Solar, Inc. (SPG) is the established leader in the design and installation of high performance, economical solar energy systems for government agencies and public works projects. It is the largest integrated designer/installer of solar power systems in California.
SPG’s goal is to reduce or eliminate costs associated with utility electric service through the design and installation of solar PV systems. Each SPG solar system is a combined technological and economic solution designed to meet this goal. By significantly reducing or eliminating a facility’s annual electric bill, a government or public works facility solar system quickly pays for itself—and returns the energy cost savings to the bottom line in the form of operating profit.
Solar can reduce or completely eliminate the cost of electricity for a public facility, and in the process redirect those precious budget dollars to other areas. By using SPG’s 100% Replaced-Cost Financing, there is no new line item to the budget for funding a solar energy system project.Instead, the same budgeted funds that are allocated for paying the utility company for power that is no longer purchased can now be used to retire the debt for the solar project. Once the solar project has been paid for, the government agency will continue to enjoy the benefit of the replaced electricity costs in the form of added “revenue” from the solar system.
With a 25-year manufacturer’s warranty and a potential lifespan of 40+ years, the public agency creates free electricity for many years after the solar system debt is retired. Removing the budget line item for power from future budgets adds funds back into the agency’s operating fund that would otherwise have to be allocated for constantly rising electricity costs.

Sewerage Commission-Oroville Region, Oroville, California: This 622-kilowatt solar system powers the first solar wastewater plant in the U.S. South Feather Water and Power, Butte County, California: This 566-kilowatt solar system powers the South Feather freshwater treatment plant.
Butte County Center, Oroville, California: This giant 1.18-Megawatt high-performance solar system powers the county jail and administration building.
SPG’s solar installations are designed to send power back to the utility grid under California’s net metering law. With net metering, a solar power system sends surplus electricity back to the grid during the daytime when electric utility rates are the most expensive.
